Janki Maheshvari

Yoga has been a part of Janki's life since high school, but it was her first Ashtanga class in 2003 which really led her to adopt yoga as an all-encompassing lifestyle. She instantly fell in love with the flow and dynamic yet focused energy of the traditional Ashtanga practice, and soon completed a 1-year intensive Ashtanga yoga teacher training with Breathing Space Yoga Studio in Halifax, Canada. At the same time, she was embarking upon a B.A. in Health Studies, Sociology / Social Anthropology and International Development Studies with a Concentration in Asian Religion. She has been blessed to have received three research scholarships, enabling her to live in India and Nepal for extended periods of time, furthering her knowledge on the yogic approach to mind/body health. In 2007, she completed her 500-hour YTT with Yogi Vishvketu in Rishikesh. She has since been registered as RYT-500 and has continued teaching Vinyasa based yoga at studios and gyms in her native country Germany. There, she wrote her M.A. thesis on authenticity of yoga in the Himalayan foothills of Uttarakhand. Janki has also enjoyed training as Reiki and Acupressure Massage practitioner. She is passionate about holistic nutrition, environmental ethics and animal rights (ahimsa), and teaching yoga in a light and playful way.
